So I was tagged in another one of these but with completely different questions than the 11 Things About Me post, this time by Becky at Educating Roversi (shout out!) so I thought, why not. In between posts about food and things this is a fun diversion, let’s dive in!
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I am very tempted to say Pizza; but unless I could have my biscuits with it (which seems kind of weird) I don’t think I can. I very much love ribs and also prime rib, so I think I’m going to have to go with Sliced Prime rib with a balsamic reduction, a loaded baked potato, a side salad and my biscuits. In order to have all of the food groups I’d have to have some kind of fruit based dessert (maybe apple pie or my blueberry muffins? That sounds nice!) And considering I won’t be pregnant forever, a nice glass of Cabernet! Questions about food, come on you knew it was going to be a paragraph!
Which character from ‘Friends’ are you most alike and why?
Honestly I don’t think I’m much like any of them, I used to love that show though! Maybe Monica if I had to pick the one I’m most like because she’s kind of OCD and I can be a bit too; but I’m not neurotic.
What was your favourite subject at school and why?
I loved English, I’m interested in it and caught on to it quickly; I won many poetry and writing awards when I was young. It was kind of my thing; until I was in high school and put in a level of honors classes that were much much more difficult and a lot of busy work. Then I became more interested in Sociology/Psychology and I still am into those topics today. I bet if we’d had a cooking class available I would have a different answer!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
The first aspiration I ever had was to be a writer. I decided on Journalism at one point and even sent away to the local newspaper inquiring on how to pursue it; to my surprise they actually sent me a big manila envelope of information which I kept for years afterwards; eventually losing it in a move. In High School that changed to a desire to teach; when I had my first son at 17 (and then my daughter at 21) I struggled to provide for my family so I did whatever clerical or office jobs I could to that end. Eventually I did become a sales coach and manager for Support.com, before they outsourced the entire sales department to the Philippines. I also worked in Technical Support which, if you’ve never done it, does involve quite a lot of teaching!
What is your blogging “Top Tip”?
Persistence/Consistence. As they say, consistency is key and there really is no better advice I’ve ever heard. That and make things easy to find, if someone has to dig around for more than a minute for something they’re going to stop caring and go somewhere else.
When you have thirty minutes to relax, what do you do?
I read, or I play World of Warcraft. I’m bookish and techie at heart, my love of family and my love of cooking are my passions but if I am just trying to veg out for a bit it’s books or games.
Where is your favourite place to go in the world?
Home. By home I mean Wisconsin, I’d love for it to still be my home but for now it’s ‘back home’ and whenever I go there I’m shot through with longing for so long afterwards I can’t quantify the time. I don’t think it ever leaves me, especially when I’m there, because I know I’m not longing for something that isn’t real; it’s right there in front of me.
What is your favourite item of clothing?
Wow hmmm… I suppose it depends on what we’re talking about here, casual or dressy. Casual, yoga pants. But lately being pregnant, it’s one particular pair of yoga shorts that are just more comfortable than the rest on my growing belly. Dressy, definitely this one grey dress I have. I love dresses and I would wear them every day if I wasn’t worried the little guy would get food/drink/snot/anythinghecanreach on them and ruin them; plus with him climbing all over me it’s easier to manage in pants and a tank top.
If you could be one celebrity for a day, who would you be?
I’m not sure about this one; I’d prefer to still be ME but a celebrity, if I had to… I like me. I’m comfortable with me. I’ve worked hard on me. I don’t want to give me up to be someone else; and moreso I don’t want to give up my family. Sure it may be fun in some aspects but I would miss my family and myself too much for the trade off to be worth it.
Who is your favourite Disney character?
Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. I love her. She’s bookish and kind of odd and heck she even has brown hair and eyes and is married to a beast! Just kidding honey… 😉
Well that was fun! I hope it was for you too.
